A joint investigation team from the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and the Central Kalimantan Regional Police has arrested nine suspects believed to be involved in the incident that claimed the lives of three police officers.
Investigators are also pursuing three additional suspects who have been placed on the national wanted list.
The case has attracted nationwide attention and is no longer being handled at the district police level.
The investigation is now under the coordination of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and the Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri to uncover the entire criminal network allegedly connected to the incident.
Katingan Police Chief Confirms Transfer of Investigation
Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono, S.H., S.I.K., M.H. confirmed that responsibility for the investigation has been transferred to the Central Kalimantan Regional Police in order to accelerate the investigative process and further case development.
According to him, Katingan Police continues to support the ongoing investigation conducted by the joint task force.
The transfer reflects the complexity of the case, which involves not only the alleged attack on police officers but also the dismantling of a broader narcotics distribution network.
Bareskrim Announces Nine Suspects Arrested
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, stated that as of Saturday, July 11, 2026, investigators had arrested nine suspects during the joint operation.
“A total of nine suspects have been arrested, including alleged drug kingpin Bio, Ramblan alias Busu, and Perie. Our team is continuing efforts to capture the remaining three fugitives,” Brig. Gen. Eko Hadi Santoso said.
According to investigators, the operation involved personnel from Sub-Directorate IV of the Narcotics Crime Directorate, the National Investigation Center Task Force of Bareskrim Polri, the Central Kalimantan Regional Police, and Katingan Police.
Arrests Conducted in Multiple Stages
Investigators said the suspects were not arrested simultaneously.
The joint task force carried out a series of coordinated operations following the deadly attack.
The first suspect was arrested on Friday, July 3, 2026, near the riverbank in Tumbang Pariyei Village, Katingan Tengah District.
Another suspect was arrested the following day in Tumbang Kalemei Village.
A third suspect was captured one day later while hiding inside a hut in the same area.
On Tuesday, July 7, investigators arrested two additional suspects allegedly involved in the attack.
Information obtained during questioning led investigators to three key fugitives believed to have fled Central Kalimantan.
Main Suspects Captured While Fleeing to East Kalimantan
The investigation later expanded into East Kalimantan Province.
Following surveillance and coordinated checkpoints, the joint task force, assisted by Samarinda City Police, intercepted a travel vehicle transporting the three principal fugitives.
The arrests took place on Wednesday night, July 8, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m. Central Indonesia Time along the Samarinda–Bontang Highway in South Prangat District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency.
Investigators arrested Bio, Ramblan alias Busu, and Perie during the operation.
According to Bareskrim Polri, the three suspects are believed to have played significant roles within the criminal network under investigation.
Three Fugitives Still Being Pursued
Despite the arrest of nine suspects, the investigation remains ongoing.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso confirmed that investigators continue searching for three individuals who have been officially designated as wanted persons.
The fugitives have been identified as:
- Pia alias Diyon;
- Darius alias Iyus;
- Ilue.
Investigators continue collecting intelligence regarding their whereabouts while exploring the possible involvement of additional individuals linked to the network.
Investigation Focuses on Dismantling Drug Network
The investigation now extends beyond the alleged attack on police officers.
The joint task force is examining the structure of the narcotics trafficking organization believed to operate in the region.
Investigators are tracing distribution routes, identifying relationships among network members, and determining whether additional suspects remain unidentified.
