JAKARTA, folitimes.id – The government claims to have regained control of more than 6.2 million hectares of forest since the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force, or Satgas PKH, began operating. The scale makes it one of the government’s largest operations to recover areas affected by administrative irregularities.
President Prabowo Subianto said the area’s value was almost Rp400 trillion. However, this figure is the President’s estimate of the area’s asset value, rather than cash that has all entered the state treasury.
State Receipts Reach Rp13.24 Trillion
Government data show several components of the enforcement results that must be distinguished. On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Satgas PKH reported total state receipts of Rp13,241,335,681,910.13. These receipts came from administrative fines and the recovery of state finances.
That amount differs from the almost Rp400 trillion mentioned by the President. Rp13.24 trillion represents receipts reported at the event, while almost Rp400 trillion is the estimated value of the 6.2 million hectares of forest brought back under state control.
Palm Oil Dominates Recovered Areas
Satgas PKH recorded the recovery of 6,206,212.14 hectares of forest in the palm oil plantation sector since its establishment in February 2025. The government also carried out enforcement in the mining sector across 14,633.79 hectares.
The scale of the land leaves the government with further work. Administrative recovery does not automatically answer how the state will manage these areas after enforcement.
More Than 259,000 Hectares Handed Back
In the eighth stage, Satgas PKH handed back 259,230.73 hectares of forest to the relevant ministries and agencies. The Attorney General’s Office handed the areas to the Ministry of Forestry, while proceeds from administrative fines and the recovery of state finances were handed to the Ministry of Finance.
The public still needs further information about each area’s status, location, companies involved, enforcement grounds and planned use after it returns to state control.
Prabowo Estimates Almost Rp400 Trillion in Value
“The Forest Area Enforcement Task Force has saved more than 6.2 million hectares, more than 6.2 million hectares,” President Prabowo Subianto said at the Attorney General’s Office complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Prabowo said the calculated value approached Rp400 trillion. He linked that value to the state’s ability to fund schools, housing and health facilities.
Total Cash Recovery Said to Reach Rp52 Trillion
According to Prabowo, eight stages of Satgas PKH operations have resulted in the handover of approximately Rp52 trillion in state receipts. This is the cumulative figure the President cited from previous activities.
Combining land value, the latest receipts and cumulative receipts can produce misleading conclusions about how much money has actually been recovered.
Recovering Land Does Not Resolve Every Issue
Enforcement faces challenges after the state regains control of land. The areas need clear management status, and the government must determine whether environmental restoration, productive management or further legal action is required.
Transparency of company-level data is also important so the public can monitor business identities, area sizes, fines, payments and follow-up action in each case.
Forest Police to Be Strengthened
Prabowo believes enforcement is insufficient if the state cannot protect areas after recovering them. The government plans to strengthen the forest police to around 70,000 personnel.
Ultimately, Satgas PKH’s success will be measured not only by the millions of hectares recovered, but also by the state’s ability to protect the areas, restore damage and ensure natural resources deliver tangible benefits to the public.
